AMD Ryzen CPUs to support Windows 7 with drivers
AMD Ryzen CPUs to support Windows 7 with drivers
AMD Ryzen CPUs to support Windows 7 with drivers
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-ry ... ivers.html
The lads at Computerbase noticed that AMD is hard at work with Ryzen drivers, Windows 7 is also getting fully supported opposed to what Intel is doing (Kaby Lake only has full support starting at Windows 8.1).
AMD will make Ryzen fully compatible with Windows 7, which is still supported by Microsoft for another three years. The info was shared by AMD at a partner event. Basically, this opens up all processor instruction sets for Window 7, as long as they are compatible with the OS, of course. Also, you might see HEVC/10-bit driver support.
Microsoft is not supporting Intel's latest Kaby Lake range of CPUs on any OS below Windows 10, kind of weird, right? We're not sure how that will detail itself in relation to Ryzen, as Microsoft clearly stated not to support new processors on older operating systems.
So there you have it, if you do not have the stomach to upgrade to Windows 10. AMD have reportedly announced they will be providing drivers for Windows 7, the favourite OS of many.

AMD expected to provide Windows 7 drivers for their upcoming Ryzen CPUs

Good news everybody! Well, good news for anybody that wants an AMD Ryzen CPU but can’t stomach upgrading to Windows 10 anyways. AMD have reportedly announced they will be providing drivers for Windows 7, everybody’s favourite OS.
Windows 7 is still the most prevalent operating system around on desktop computers, covering around 47% of the market. Windows 10 is creeping ever closer, but at just 25% of the total market it’s still a way behind.
So it makes total sense for AMD to make sure their brand new CPU architecture will at least work on the most widely used OS of today.
Microsoft though aren't supporting Intel’s latest Kaby Lake range of CPUs on any OS below Windows 10, which is a little bizarre. That means you don't get any security updates for Kaby Lake outside of Windows 10 nor do you get access to the 10-bit HEVC encoding goodness (the only real innovation around the new chips) to get your 4K Netflix and chill on.
