- Download and install the game from Steam or GOG.
- Connect using 74.91.116.23:27960 or et.noobsforever.net:27960.
- Enjoy previously unknown levels of admin abuse!

If you have the ET Legacy CANCER installed, REMOVE IT COMPLETELY AND REINSTALL THE GAME.

If you installed the game from Steam or GOG, you need to download the archive with the PunkBuster files, extract it and copy the PB directory to your install directory (where ET.exe is):

INSTALLING ET THE GOOD OLD MACHO WAY

The current ET installers from Steam and GOG don't install the PunkBuster services and the game's manual. Follow the steps below to install the game the good old macho way:

1 - v2.55 Windows Installer

The Linux installer already installs v2.60, use the installer below.

2 - v2.60 Windows Updater / Linux Installer

Linux

3 - v2.60b - Copy them over the existing files

Windows
Linux

4 - PunkBuster Updated Files - Replace the existing PB directory with the one from this archive

Windows
Linux

5 - Generate an ETKEY file if don't already have one and copy it to etmain

It's extremely important to apply the tweaks from the topic below:

Essential ET Tweaks

Except for the changes you need to do on your PC and through your graphics card control panel, all necessary game settings are included in my base autoexec.cfg config file. Download it here:

Base autoexec.cfg config file

Edit the autoexec.cfg file to set your monitor's resolution and keep an identical copy of the file in the etmain and jaymod directories.

Add the parameters below to the game's launch options on the Steam/GOG client and/or to the target section of the game's shortcut:

+set fs_game jaymod +set com_hunkmegs 256 +set com_soundmegs 128 +set com_zonemegs 128 +exec autoexec.cfg +connect et.noobsforever.net:27960

If you already have the game installed and want to run it from Steam or GOG, copy everything from your current install to the Steam/GOG install, overwriting the existing files.
