RG reload failure

Lately I have encountered some problems when loading a rifle grenade. After loading the grenade, the icon in the lower right changes to show that I have it loaded but my ammo is 0/k where k tends to range between 6 and 8 inclusive (doesn't seem to happen after a I have spent a few 'nades). I can unload the grenade and reload it and that typically gets me the right result (ammo=1/(k-1)). Any clues as to why this happens and/or how to fix it? I haven't played on any other servers in ages and the issue is pretty recent (about 2 weeks in my estimation) in case that helps pre-empt any questions regarding downloading corrupt files.

Does it happen all the time? There has always been an issue with the rifle sometimes failing to fire in most mods (not in Jaymod as far as I can remember), which I don't know if should be considered a bug or something intended to make it more realistic (since that also happened in real life). There IS a bug in Jaymod with the grenade reload, which happens occasionally when you die while reloading or something like that, and it looks like the grenade is loaded but if you try to fire, nothing happens (you need to reload again to fix it). Other than those cases, I haven't had any problems with the RG, and no one uses it more than I do. :D

The latest Jaymod version was a nightly build released on 25 Jan 2008, which was the third of a series of nightly builds JayBird (Jaymods author) released during the weekend when I had switched the server to Jaymod and started passing the bugs I found to him. He's decided to stop developing Jaymod over 1 year ago, so that's the version we are using. There is a German guy "reverse engineering" the Jaymod binaries and fixing and implementing a few things on what's called the Enhanced Jaymod, but we've tried it on the server a few times and had various issues. So, we are running the latest nightly build by JayBird himself, and I haven't changed anything regarding the mod in a long while.

Yeah RG is always been weird. Before this, the typical glitch would be that the game would unload the 'nade immediately after you load it, but that's a different thing than what is happening now. Its not happening "all the time" but is relatively often. If you don't have this problem, then something must be screwy on my side. I'm using this weapon less and less lately anyway so I suppose I'll just deal with it. Just figured it was worth mentioning in case someone else dealt with it before.

I think the most likely reason is that the RG is a weapon intended for use by 100% machos, which may not be your case.

I have been having problems loading any of the light weapons. It would put a new mag in but there would be no ammo in it.

@ Tigerpath. Me too and it's frustrating being killed because your gun has jammed. :evil:

Jaybird (Jaymod's author) wrote in the 2.1.8 version change log that all issues with rifle reloads had been solved. If you are having problems reloading light weapons, it would be advisable to post about it on the Jaymod forums so Jaybird can fix them.
