Changes to the map rotation

#1

Post by Pedro-NF » 30 Nov 2010, 07:21

In order to avoid the usage of the referee exploit that allows a hacker to get referee status on the server without even knowing the password and then making other players referees, kicking players, changing maps, etc., I had to add to the server the Enhanced Mod, an adaptation of JayMod made by a very talented guy, [=1]RedSector, of the [=1]Equalone clan.

The problem is that the Enhanced Mod uses quite a lot of game resources, so I had to cut down heavily on the number of maps on the rotation, or else on certain maps, when a certain number of players were connected, players would get kicked with the error message "MAX_GAMESTATE_CHARS exceeded", which in short means that the game has run out of a certain portion of memory available to allocate some specific game and map data.

The result of this will be a much more compact rotation than what we've all grown used to on the [>NF<] Server, at least until the server makes the unavoidable switch to N!tmod. Some maps on the rotation will change every few days, and it's been quite hard to decide which ones to include and which to leave out while at the same time mantaining the server's rotation structure, experimenting with new maps and, of course, pleasing myself and the other players   .

I should be changing one or two maps every day, so all maps will appear during the month.

With the enhanced mod off (it was causing too many crashes), I've upped the number of maps in the rotation to 32, including 2 fun maps. I'm changing maps every 2 or 3 days so that all maps play during the month. Complaints must be sent by PM to user Google[BOT].

You sent a couple of spies to sabotage the server. After I used my amazing skills of persuasion they confessed everything.
